Unversal Dowel Sleeves Installation

1. For use with Connolly Key Joint

Remove the pre punched "knock outs" with a firm sharp blow using one of the supplied pegs.

Fit the multi fit boots through the specially designed knock outs and "click" into position. Insert the sleeves into the boots and clip the free end onto a chaired support bar.

Insert dowels into the sleeves and place the reinforcing mesh. Chair the mesh to provide clearance to the dowels. Walking on the mesh should not affect the alignment of the dowels.

Pour concrete to both sides of the joint and finish to the top of the key joint.

2. For use at Construction Joints

Flick a chalk line along the form board at the centre of the slab thickness. Nail the face fixing caps onto the form board with the supplied nails. Insert sleeves onto the fixing caps prior to pouring the concrete. To make the job easier the sleeves can be installed after the reinforcement has been laid and chaired. The face fixing caps can also be screwed to steel formwork using self drilling screws.

When concrete has hardened, the form board can be stripped to expose the open end of the sleeves.

The face fixing caps remain in place ready for preparation of the next slab.

Insert the appropriate dowels into the sleeves as the next pour is being prepared. To eliminate tripping, the dowels can be installed after the groundwork has been completed for the adjacent pour.

3. For use with Saw Cut Joints

If desired, Connolly Universal Dowel Sleeves can be used as part of a ready made dowel assembly.

For a more economical and simple alternative the sleeves can be used in combination with Connolly Truline Dowel Caps to form a simple dowel assembly. Both the sleeves and the caps simply clip onto chaired R10 or Y12 support bars.
